Preparing for Your Studies

For accurate results, follow these instructions:


Fast Fast for 10 to 12 hours before blood tests (lipid profile and glucose).


Medications If you are taking heart or blood pressure medications, check with your doctor first to see if you should stop taking them. Bring a list of the medications you are taking with you.

Before your appointment

  • Avoid alcoholic beverages 24 hours beforehand
  • Do not smoke or consume caffeine (coffee, tea, or soft drinks) for at least 3 hours beforehand (especially if you are having a stress test)
  • Do not engage in intense exercise 12 to 48 hours beforehand
