Hemodialysis is a medical treatment used to filter and clean the blood of people whose kidneys are not functioning properly.
A hemodialysis session typically lasts about 3 to 4 hours, depending on each patient's needs and condition.
The frequency of hemodialysis sessions varies depending on medical indications and the patient's condition, but they are generally performed 3 to 4 times a week.
Hemodialysis helps remove waste products and excess fluid from the body, balance electrolyte levels in the blood, and control blood pressure, thereby improving the quality of life for patients with chronic kidney disease.
The hemodialysis procedure itself is not painful, as it is performed using a machine that filters the blood in a safe and controlled manner. However, some patients may experience minor discomfort when the needles are inserted into the vascular access sites.
