The Neurophysiology Department focuses on the functional evaluation of the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord), the peripheral nervous system (nerves and sensory organs), and the autonomic nervous system.

Using highly specialized technology for diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic guidance purposes to support diagnosis and follow-up across various specialties, including the various disciplines of the neurosciences (Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Psychiatry), as well as Traumatology and Orthopedics, Rehabilitation, Pediatrics, Otolaryngology, Audiology, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, and Pulmonology, among others.

It represents a field closely related to the brain's physiological functioning and its interaction with other systems of the human body, as well as the responses involving neurotransmitters, hormones, and chemical compounds synthesized or produced within the body by specific glands.

The neurophysiological techniques used in this department include the following:

  • Digital Electroencephalography
  • Brain Mapping
  • Intraoperative electroencephalographic monitoring
  • Electromyography
  • Nerve Conduction Speeds
  • In-hospital and outpatient polysomnography (sleep studies)
  • Evoked Potentials (Auditory, Visual, Somatosensory)
  • Otoneurological Studies
  • Audiometry
  • Speech audiometry
  • Impedance measurement
